Visiting the Sunset Crater Volcano and Bonito Lava Flow is part of our Coal Mine Canyon Day Trip. You will have the opportunity to explore the Bonito Lava Flow and numerous volcanic features while walking at the base of the Sunset Crater Volcano. This volcano last which erupted in 1085 A.D. forming a 340-meter-high cone (1,120 ft).
Fossil Creek is one of two wild and scenic rivers in Arizona. Its 70 degree water and waterfall pours at 20,000 gallons per hour from springs at the bottom of a 1,600 foot deep canyon. Due to its beauty and year-round water, people are drawn to this area and the waterfalls. The lushness of the riparian area strikes a sharp contrast to the dry and sparse desert vegetation that surrounds it.

The Mogollon Rim is a geological feature 200 miles long cutting across the state of Arizona. The sunsets up on the rim are breathtaking! We will also explore one of the more remote rim lakes. At this elevation you will enjoy temperatures 20 to 30 degrees cooler than the Phoenix area.
Secret Canyon hiking trail lies within the Red Rock Secret Mountain Wilderness in beautiful Sedona, Arizona. This is a wide valley surrounded on three sides by high red cliffs split by many deep, hidden canyons. This canyon is similar to the West Fork of Oak Creek as it is quite steep, densely wooded and contains a permanent stream with pools and waterfalls with some confined passageways. Secret Canyon is much less traveled so offers more tranquility.
Aztec Peak is a fire lookout at an elevation of 7,694 ft above the sea level, located in the Tonto National Forest, in central Arizona. It’s the highest point of the Sierra Ancha Wilderness region. This off-road trail twist and turns up through beautiful forests and canyons. It takes you to the top of the Workman Creek Falls. At the summit there is a watchtower you can climb up (seasonal) giving you stunning views from the vista point atop of Aztec Peak. There are many side trails and hikes to explore within the Sierra Ancha Wilderness region.
Sycamore Falls located at the headwaters of Sycamore Creek in the 55,937 acre Sycamore Canyon Wilderness, this is a special place. The ponderosa pine forest and canyon country are relatively durable environments, but water is scarce and spring run-off powers Sycamore Falls usually no later than April each year. From April through November, however, this becomes one of the most popular rock climbing areas in the southwest, known as “Paradise Forks.”
